4.0 out of 5 stars I like Yoga Burn One of ZOE BRAY-COTTON’S Best!
By Terry Miaon

I did this one this morning, and I love it! It’s an hour and really is quite a bit different from Zoey’s usual stuff…it’s not that the poses are held any longer than usual, but they’re executed really slowly (though not TOO slowly, at least for me, lol) and repeated 2-3x.

Here’s a few videos showing Yoga Burn author, Zoe Bray-Cotton in action:

Difference Between Grass Fed Vs Non-Grass Fed Whey Protein

Difference between grass fed whey protein Vs Non grass fed whey protein.

So this for kind of organic whey protein , lots of company are offering whey protein which is obviously from cows and any buyer rather than a biotas. Most of the people using this product obviously they for type purpose of avoiding, adjusting the hormone or any biotices supposed we passed filter to away protein .Now if you are using grass fed whey because is the lifestyle choice you now some reason specially not buy those thing. And now i told you I am not specially talk, basically i talk about the health benefits of grass fed whey Vs Standard whey So, Lets us go very briefly with any bio-tics you have growth hormone or straight hormones .

Growth hormones yes milk does contain a small amount of growth hormones from the cow and whey derive from milk obviously source amount of pastured to whey but you have to realize that what you getting  in the actual whey protein is the natural growth hormone from the cows itself it’s not a result of the  exotic hormones that’s is injected into the cow basically there is a lots of data looking on the description box below actually that show the growth hormone content of a grass fed whey and regular whey ,that’s not actually differ and not only that but the amount you are dealing with you is so absolutely mints you less it’s a completely not issue. We literally talking roughly one micro gram protein and micro gram is one one millionth of a gram so it’s really just a  total not issue and not only that but growth hormone are very darkly protein and when you doing  just that your body is going to a pretty much destroy during the process of digestion any way but it can one micro gram is virtually nothing not an issue ,

Secondly you got the issue of anti-biotic  the milk that the big brand is using in the powder is regularly tested before anti-biotic and any bachelor of milk that contain any reasonable amount of biotic is gone be rejected not use so, you really not have worry about biotic because all the milk used they get necessary  from whey protein derived from is very heavily touch with anti-biotic and you not any get significant about the resulting whey protein powder .

What are Grass-Fed Cows?

This type of protein is one of the most natural ways to increase the amount of protein intake present in your daily diet.

The conventionally raised cows after 6-12 months are moved to feedlots (most of those are unsanitary), there, cows are fed with grain based feeds (soy or corn). Also often are given hormones and drugs to grow faster, as well as antibiotics to live the living conditions that are unsanitary.

Compare that to grass fed cows, which are raised in a more traditional way, free to graze the fields and eat naturally grown grass.

The primary nutritional difference comes down to increased levels of omega-3, vitamins (E&B), and minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium), as well as higher CLA content.

Pros of Promix Grass-Fed Whey Protein Powder

  • Budget friendly at $0.88 per serving
  • Great taste and texture
  • Only two ingredients
  • Superb customer service
  • Non GMO ingredients
  • Uses third party labs to test for heavy metals and other quality assurance testing

Cons of Promix Grass-Fed Whey Protein Powder

  • A few reviewers found the chocolate to be slightly bitter (I found it actually nice, not too sweet…)
  • The chocolate flavor is limited edition
  • The bag that it comes in does not reseal well.

The Verdict – Would I Purchase Again?

I give Promix 100% Grass-Fed Whey Protein Powder two thumbs up overall. Not only is the bulk price of the protein powder an amazingly budget-friendly $75.99 per serving, but also the simple two-ingredient list and taste are excellent with 4 flavors namely Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Unflavored, Vanilla. In an age where ingredient lists often require a dictionary to read, this simplicity is much appreciated.

While the protein powder may not be 100% organic, it is produced from milk of 100% grass-fed cows. In addition to its pure ingredients, the company ensures its products are high quality through third party laboratory testing. It’s definitely a buy for us, despite the higher price.

Best Way To Live A Life Happy

Best Way To Live A Life Happy

One should wake up about one and a half hour before the sun rise so that you can synchronize with the rhythm of sun. Ayurveda recommends an auspicious time – Brahma-muhurata which means ‘the time of Brahma…the pure consciousnesses – for rising up in morning.

About an hour and a half before the sunrise, a great shift in energy fills space. Then, about half an hour before sunrise, a second boom of energy dawns in the atmosphere. Hope, inspiration and peace manifest at this time. This time is considered best for attaining bhram gyan (meditation and self analysis), supreme knowledge and eternal happiness. At this time, the environment is pure and calm and soothing and the mind is fresh after sleep.

Meditation at this time improves mental performance thus helps in increasing satva gunatherefore subduing mental irritation or hyperactivity and lethargy which is contributed by rajas and tamas guna.

Most sources I’ve read recommend drinking 16oz of water right after you wake up, and I’d recommend even more (depending on your weight; I drink 1-2L every morning and weigh 173 pounds). Here are five solid reasons to drink a big glass of water right when you wake up.

  • It fires up your metabolism. Drinking a large, cool glass of water after you wake up has been shown to fire up your metabolism by a whopping 24% for 90 minutes!1
  • You’re dehydrated when you wake up. You just went 7-8 hours without drinking any water! Even if your body isn’t telling you that it’s thirsty, it probably is.
  • Water helps your body flush out toxins. “Your kidneys do an amazing job of cleansing and ridding your body of toxins as long as your intake of fluids is adequate”, according to Kenneth Ellner, an Atlanta-based dermatologist. Getting fluids into your body right after your wake up will help your body flush out toxins first thing in the morning.2
  • Your brain tissue is 75% water. When you’re not properly hydrated, your brain operates on less fuel, and you can feel drained, or experience fatigue or mood fluctuations.3
  • You’ll eat less. One study showed that people who drink a glass of water before every meal lost 4.5 pounds over a three-month period, because “it fills up the stomach with a substance that has zero calories”, and people “feel full as a result”.4 Especially after I’ve eaten a big breakfast, drinking a lot of water in the morning has also helped me avoid the temptation of snacking before lunch.

Your body is 72% water, and you don’t have enough water in you when you wake up. Drinking a big glass of water first thing in the morning is a great way to rehydrate, and start kicking ass from the moment you wake up.

Sure, walking burns calories and helps you lose weight, But, there’s so much more. When you walk at a fast pace, say of 3 mph or more, you are doing aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise works the big muscles in your lower body, using lots of fuel. It causes your lungs to work hard to take in extra oxygen, which is used to stoke the calorie burn. Walking pumps up your heart rate, so your blood can deliver raw material to your muscles and carry off by-products of metabolism. Walking at least 30 minutes a day at a moderately intense level lowers your risk for many health conditions, including viral illnesses, obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and some types of cancer. Less stressful to your bones than running, walking nonetheless causes some impact stress to your ankles, knees, hips and spinal cord, which strengthens your bones and reduces your risk for osteoporosis

Green tea is good for your bones. Move over, milk. Green tea could help slow the process of age-related bone loss and decrease the risk of fractures caused by osteoporosis, according to a study published in the journal Nutrition Research. Women who drank up to three cups of tea per day had a 30 percent lower risk of osteoporosis-related hip fractures, researchers found.

Green tea may help prevent cancer. Cancer rates are lower in countries, like Japan, where green tea is a go-to drink, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. While researchers can’t be sure that green tea alone is responsible for low cancer rates, the tea does contain the chemicals EGCG, EGC, ECG, and EC, which are known for their antioxidant activity. These chemicals may help protect cells from DNA damage, one of the first steps in the growth cancer cells. Plus, properties of green tea could help protect your skin from the sun’s UV damage, the leading cause of skin cancer.Green tea could help you maintain a healthy weight. It could even reduce body fat, researchers found in one 12-week study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Green tea extract may also have the power to decrease obesity and obesity-related illness, like diabetes.

Eating a balanced diet isn’t the only thing you need to do to keep your body healthy. Exercise helps strengthen your bones and muscles which can help you stay fit and active when you are older. Freddy recommends doing at least 1 hour of exercise every day to keep us fit and strong.

1. Exercise is good for your heart.

Did you know your heart is actually a muscle? Like other muscles in your body, your heart will get bigger and stronger with exercise because it has to pump blood round your body faster.

2. Exercise makes your body better.

Some activities such as football or skipping can make you stronger so you can run faster or for longer. Some exercise such as dancing and yoga makes your body more flexible and others like cricket might improve other skills such as batting or catching.

3. Exercise is good for your mood.Whilst different exercises maybe be good for different parts of your body, all exercise is good for your mood! When you exercise, you brain releases feel good chemicals which make you feel happier and more relaxed.

People who eat breakfast are actually healthier overall. Some people are under the huge misconception that not eating breakfast saves calories that you can then use throughout the day when you become hungry. This is not true. When you eat a reasonable and healthy breakfast in the morning, you are actually regulating your blood sugar levels. When you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, you may find that you get hungry much more quickly throughout the day because your stomach is empty.

Eating breakfast helps manage weight. If you are looking to lose weight or maintain recent weight loss, eating breakfast is crucial. Eating a small, sensible breakfast will help you curb hunger throughout the day. When you already have good, sustainable food in your system, you are less likely to reach for the junk you may be surrounded by while going about your day.Breakfast gives you energy. If you skip breakfast in the morning, you are essentially running on fumes. You need all the nutrients present in a healthy breakfast to help you perform correctly at work or school. If you don’t eat breakfast in the morning, you may have to wait up to 12 hours since your last meal before you can eat again. Your muscles need glycogen for energy and will end up being depleted if you haven’t eaten anything.

Climbing stairs is good for you and here’s ten reasons why:

  1. It’s a really simple way to build short bursts of physical activity into your day.
  2. No waiting. Just think how much time you spend waiting for a slow lift especially during busy times.
  3. It can help you lose weight. You burn more calories per minute climbing stairs than jogging.
  4. You can use it as a way to take a break from your desk, which helps to relieve stress and cut down on tension.
  5. You’ll build up muscle and tone your legs. Ooh, and your bum will also get a good work out.
  6. Taking the stairs can be quicker. If you don’t believe us, test this out by timing your lift journey and comparing it to taking the stairs.
  7. Stair climbing is good for your heart. It’s a vigorous form of exercise, which makes it great for cardiovascular fitness.
  8. You’ll help to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by not taking the lift.
  9. By regularly taking the stairs, you’ll be helping to improve your bone density. This is especially important for women.
  10. And the best bit of all. It’s free.

Junk food refers to those foods that contain calories but contribute little to body nutrition. They may taste good, but hardly keep you full, so you tend to eat more. This can lead to overeating and overweight.

Another problem about eating junk food is that it tends to substitute for eating nutritious foods. So instead of eating fruits and vegetables, some people eat cookies or chips for snacks, or instead of drinking milk, children would rather have soda.

Sure, it’s fun to share a good laugh. But did you know it can actually improve your health? It’s true: laughter is strong medicine. It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. As children, we used to laugh hundreds of times a day, but as adults life tends to be more serious and laughter more infrequent. By seeking out more opportunities for humor and laughter, though, you can improve your emotional health, strengthen your relationships, find greater happiness—and even add years to your life.

Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. It also helps you to release anger and be more forgiving.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.

Yes You Can Lose Weight In 7 Days…..

There’s a lot more to losing weight than simply eating better and working out. If you want to dramatically increase your chances for long-term success, you’ll also want to modify the behavior that surrounds your meals and physical activity.

Surprising Weight Loss Tricks

Exercise is key to most weight loss plans because it helps you burn more calories, and more calories burned equals more pounds lost. But what if you hate exercise? Is it required to lose weight? It certainly helps you stay healthier (by revving your heart rate and building your muscles.) But it is not mandatory. There are ways to lose pounds without exercising. Here’s how:

1. Dim the lights and lower the noise

In a study by Cornell researcher Brain Wansink, Ph.D., people who went to a fast food restaurant where the lighting was softer and the music was more soothing ate, on average, 175 fewer calories than those who ate in the same place with bright lights and blaring music.

Wansink, the Dyson professor of consumer behavior and the author of the soon-to-be-published Slim By Design: Mindless Eating Solutions for Every Day Life, says two things happen when you dim the lights: you tend to eat slower and your food cools off. That’s helpful because when you rush through your meals, you usually consume more calories. And hot food is more appealing than cold food. Soggy cold French fries, for example? No thank you!

2. Reduce the size of your plate

Most American plates are 11 or 12 inches wide. If you stick to a plate that is nine or 10 inches wide, however, Dr. Wansink says you can cut about 23 percent off the amount you serve yourself (and eat.) “It’s a mindlessly easy way to cut things down,” he says.

Similarly, if you use a smaller serving spoon, you can serve yourself about 14 percent less at each meal. “Over a number of months, that can add up to a lot less food and weight loss.”

3. Announce your snacks

This doesn’t necessarily work for everyone, but it’s very effective for some: “You can eat anything you want or snack as often as you want as long as you announce—out loud—‘I’m not hungry, but I’m gong to eat this anyway.’ The typical person who does this every day for a month loses 1.9 pounds.”

Why? “It breaks mindlessly negative eating behavior,” Dr. Wansink says. You’re not saying, “I can’t have this,” but you’re saying ‘I really have to fess up to what I’m doing’.”

4. Weigh yourself

A lot of people are in “fat denial,” says Irene Rubaum Keller, R.D. author of Foodaholic: The Seven Stages to Permanent Weight Loss. “They don’t get on scale, they buy stretchy clothes, they hide in the back of pictures—things that stop them from owning up to their weight.” Getting on the scale can stop the denial. “It may not help you lose weight, but may really stop you from gaining weight,” she says.

To weigh yourself fairly, Rubaum Keller suggests stepping on the scale in the morning after you’ve gone to the bathroom. Weigh yourself naked or wearing whatever you wear to bed. Do it exactly that way for seven days, recording your weight each day. Then, total the number and divide by seven. That will be your average (and most true) weight over the seven-day period. Based on that weight, you can then begin a weight loss plan or decide that you are happy where you are.

5. Keep a food journal

Writing down what you eat every day keeps you honest and really makes you aware of how much you’re eating. “It’s one of the most important things you can do,” says Rubaum Keller. “Yet it’s one of the things that people really resist. They think it’s so hard, but it really only takes a few minutes.”

If you want a place to keep track online, Keller recommends

6. Get enough sleep

Did you ever notice that when you’re sleepy, you tend to eat more? Your observation is backed by science: Studies have shown that tired people put more food in their mouths. There is some debate as to why.

Marie Pierre St. Onge, Ph.D., assistant professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and research associate at New York Obesity Research Center, says some studies have shown that sleep deprived people produce more ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates appetite. But the problem is not just physiological. It’s psychological, too, she says. In brain scans of sleep-deprived people, St. Onge says, the portion of the brain involved in rewards and pleasure lights up when they eat—more so than their well-rested counterparts.

“The food is more rewarding and satisfying and it probably creates this reinforcing cycle—you eat and then you want to eat more,” St. Onge says. Add to that the reality that a tired brain is less able to control its impulses, and you can see that a well rested person is much better able to moderate his or her eating.

7. Eat a good breakfast

And that doesn’t mean pile up the bacon, hash browns, and breakfast breads. Eat a heavy-on-protein breakfast every day, says Dr. Wansink, and you’ll control your hunger long into the day. For breakfast consider eggs, yogurt, or peanut butter. And, says Rubaum Keller, don’t let more than three hours pass between eating. Be sure to have small snacks available to eat between meals.

7 Ways Protein Powder Can Help You Lose Weight

If you are trying to slim, it’d be time to require your optical maser focus removed from cutting carbs and investigating calories and begin zeroing in on pounding a lot of protein.

After all, protein boosts the production of satiety-revving hormones, prevents glucose spikes and fat storage, and, most significantly, helps your body build lean muscle, the final word determiner of your rate, says board-certified sports specialist Marie Spano, R.D., C.S.C.S.

That’s why a 2015 review printed in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism over that the majority folks ought to down twenty five to thirty five grams of protein at each meal—and that individuals making an attempt to slim may have even a lot of. Some information even suggests that you just have to be compelled to eat a couple of gram of protein per pound of weight a day to slim and build metabolism-boosting muscle, Spano says.

Check out these 7 nutritionist-approved hacks to hit your protein and weight-loss goals.

1. Sub out up to a quarter of the flour in pancake, waffle, or muffin recipes with protein powder. Try a flavored tub if you’re feeling extra creative. (Mix all dry ingredients before adding liquids.)

2. Combine three tablespoons of melted butter and 20 marshmallows in a saucepan over heat until totally metled. Then, throw in two cups of ProMix Protein Puffs and a half cup of toasted coconut. Press the mixture into a greased pan and let cool. Top it off with a dusting of matcha for a protein-packed version of Rice Krispies Treats.

3. Use the blender to whirl a quarter of a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder into your morning coffee. It’ll get milky and foam up like a cappuccino.

5. Mix one scoop of protein powder and one tablespoon of nut butter into your morning oatmeal. Carbs + protein + fat = a perfect breakfast for weight loss.

6. Roll together a cup of quick oats, a half cup of nut butter, honey, and a scoop protein powder for easy peasy energy balls. You can add in dried fruit, spices (try cinnamon!), pumpkin, or your favorite seeds to mix things up.

7. Fold protein powder into your Greek yogurt. You only need to use half a scoop of protein powder since Greek yogurt is already rich in the muscle-building stuff.

8. To make soups more filling, use a blender to mix unflavored protein powder into broths or blended soups. (About a scoop per serving is a good target.) If you want big chunks of veggies or other ingredients in your soup, add them after blending.

Garnish with some more protein puffs, sliced avocado, shaved coconut, cocoa nibs, sesame seeds, and sliced grapes for a breakfast bowl.

ProMix Vanilla Whey Protein Review

Vanilla Whey Protein Review

I have used grass fed whey protein for for several as my post workout muscle exercise recovery protein drink and additionally as a daily meal replacement shake once I mix combine it with fruits and vegetables – which I called a “mixup shake.”scientific research has also suggested regarding grass fed Whey Protein that it can have advantageous effects like certain increase in Glutathione levels in the body.

According to Dr. Mark Hyman from the Cleveland Clinic:

“Glutathione is the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and to prevent aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more.”

For these event, grass fed Whey Protein is one of the effective supplements that I use on a regular basis.

I preferred before all others is grass fed whey protein which i regular used is Vanilla Whey Protein, the justification behind using Vanilla Whey Protein is only the taste of grass fed Whey Protein as its go through the following ingredents.

“Raw Chocolate: Soy Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrates (from Milk, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin), Dextrose, Flavor (Vanilla), Calcium Caseinate (from Milk), Taurine, Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Maltodextrin.”

After thoroughly scrutinizing my favourite Vanilla Whey Protein I carefully choose list of 7 standards for selecting a all circumstances surrounding Vanilla Whey Protein, I was really want you to see this standards regarding grass fed Whey Protein.

Standards #1: Must Be All Of Natural Ingredients.

ProMix Vanilla Whey Protein is an all-natural whey protein powder with only 7 Ingredients:

“Soy Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrates, Dextrose, Flavor (vanilla), Calcium Caseinate, Taurine , Maltodextrin.”

Standards #2: Grass Fed Whey Protein Powder.

This type of protein is one in all the foremost natural ways in which to extend the quantity of protein intake present in your daily diet.

The conventionally raised cows after 6-12 months are stirred to feedlots (most of these are unsanitary), there, cows are fed with grain primarily based feeds (soy or corn). additionally usually are given hormones and medicines to grow quicker, also as antibiotics to measure the living conditions that are unhealthful.

Compare that to grass fed cows, which are raised in a more traditional way, free to graze the fields and eat naturally grown grass.

The primary nutritional distinction comes right down to raised levels of omega-3 fatty acid, vitamins (E&B), and minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium), in addition as higher CLA content.

Standards #3: Color And Taste Of Vanilla Whey Protein Powder.

I don’t usually choose whey protein powders by their color however I had to show that this stuff is orange. this is often terribly normal for whey protein that’s derived from grass fed cows as a result of the milk includes a additional yellow color because of the beta carotene within the cows grass diet. however these things is orange. There’s no misinterpretation it. Here’s an image comparing the color of the protein to a “yellow” banana. It’s orange right?

“According to The American Dairy Product Institute (ADPI) – Vanilla Whey protein concentrate is a white to light cream-colored product with a bland, clean flavor.”

Standards #4 : Mixability

This powder mixes fine in my regular black and decker mixer and conjointly in my mixer bottle. but it comes out clumpy if I simply combine it in a glass with a spoon and even though I combine it during a shaker cup (I use a mason jar) that I usually use if i’m in a huge hurry. so bottom line – if you combine your whey protein powder in a glass with a spoon or if you employ a shaker cup – it’s reaching to be clumpy. If you employ a mixer or a mixer bottle, you’re all smart.

Standards #5: Cost

The cost value of this vanilla whey protein is a smaller amount as compared to the others protein powders, that’s the most reasons folks are get obsessed on this protein powder after seeing the rate in
The perfect guy is certainly not go while not buying Promix Vanilla whey protein powder.

Standards #6: Additional constituent

From Associate in Nursing ingredients stance, this whey protein appearance nice with the exception of the cane sugar. I’m not an admirer of Cane Sugar as a sweetener as a result of as i discussed higher than, i think it’s the explanation for the gritty-ness of the protein.

Also, every serving of ProMix Vanilla Whey contains half dozen grams of sugar whereas most alternative whey protein concentrate powders give some one gram of sugar per serving.

I simply don’t twig. In my opinion, there area unit such a large amount of drawbacks to exploitation will Sugar as a sweetener, it simply doesn’t add up once you will use one thing like Stevia.

On the plus facet although, i’m very glad to see they’re using Non-GMO vanilla and Non-GMO sunflower lecithin. I don’t need to consume GMO ingredients therefore that’s undoubtedly a giant and. And I’m happy they’re using vanilla that comes from Vanilla Beans, not like “natural vanilla flavoring” which may return from a range of sources as well as the anal glands of beavers and no I’m not kidding, browse this text if you didn’t hear this nonetheless.

As far as “Lecithin” goes, sunflower is the best choice. There area unit still plenty of whey protein powders that contain “Soy” lecithin which I don’t assume could be a immense drawback however I attempt to avoid therefore in any respect prices so flower lecithin is most well-liked.

Standards #7: Experience the flavour of Vanilla Whey Protein

I was terribly hopeful i might love these things initially style however sadly, the style take a look at is wherever my excitement over. I bought the Vanilla flavor however this product tastes like associate degree non-flavoured whey protein with the slightest hint of vanilla. I in person don’t mind non-flavoured whey protein, however I ordered “vanilla” flavor thus i used to be hoping the merchandise would style a lot of like vanilla than non-flavoured whey protein.

Strawberry: “Soy Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrates (from Milk, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin), Dextrose, Flavor (Strawberry), Calcium Caseinate (from Milk), Taurine, Color (Beetroot Red), Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Sucralose), Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Acidity Regulator (Citric Acid Monohydrate), Maltodextrin.”

Vanilla:“Soy Protein Isolates, Whey Protein Concentrates (from Milk, Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin), Dextrose, Fat-reduced Cocoa Powder (10-12%), Flavor (Chocolate, Vanilla), Calcium Caseinate (from Milk), Sodium Chloride, Taurine, Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Sucralose), Maltodextrin.”

What’s The Difference Between Whey Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Concentrate?

What’s The Difference Between Whey Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Concentrate?

Whey protein is derived from the liquid part of milk that separates during cheese production, which then undergoes processing to become a powder that can be added to shakes, food, and protein bars. It is important to remember that not all whey protein powders are created equal.

Concentrate whey protein is about 70-80% protein and contains some lactose and fat. While it has the best flavor, if you’re sensitive to lactose, you’ll want isolate or hydrolysate whey. Isolate whey protein powder is 90% or higher protein with very little lactose and fat. Hydrolysate whey on the other hand is a pre-digested form that allows the body to absorb it faster.

If you are looking to purchase Whey Protein powder you have noticed that it comes in a different types

1. Whey Protein Concentrate.

2. Whey Protein Isolate.

In this article I’m going to discuss nutritional differences between these two types of whey protein powders to highlight the key differences between the two.

Whey protein has been shown to augment muscle protein synthesis, support fat burning, boost the immune system, improve insulin sensitivity, and decrease appetite. Additionally, whey concentrate is shown to boost production of glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant.

Whey protein exists in three main forms: isolate, concentrate, and hydrolysate (where whey isolate undergoes additional processing.). This article will focus on the differences between whey protein concentrate and isolate. Both forms contain whey protein, but whey isolate, which is made from whey concentrate, undergoes further processing which yields an end product with more protein per unit than whey concentrate. This processing results in a product that differs from whey concentrate in several important ways.

How is Whey Protein Made?

Pushing the liquid portion of milk through a filter creates whey protein. The material left behind is dried and forms whey protein concentrate. Concentrate contains varying amounts of fat and carbohydrates in the form of lactose. The percentage of protein varies from about 30% to about 80%, and includes a variety of protein subfractions, many of which have significant biologic activity and health benefits. Evidence suggests that these peptides must remain in their native, undenatured form (the 3-d form that exists in nature) in order to exert these properties.

Why is this Important in Whey Concentrate vs Isolate?

As whey concentrate is further processed and purified into whey protein isolate, these 3-d structures can degraded and lose their biologic activity. You should note, however, that the amino acid sequences do not change when protein is denatured, and whether a protein is denatured during processing does not affect its muscle-building qualities. All large proteins are broken down during digestion into smaller protein chains and individual amino acids (denatured), and whether this process occurs in the gut or in the manufacturing plant is irrelevant to the muscle fibers getting these proteins.

However, since denaturing can affect the biologic activity of certain peptides, whey concentrate has a theoretical health advantage over isolate. That being said, depending on the process used, whey isolate may still have significant amounts of bioactive peptides. Ion-exchange is a purification process that, while producing the highest concentration of protein, essentially eliminates all bioactive compounds. Micro-filtration techniques, such as Cross Flow Micro filtration, are a more expensive procedure but yield a whey isolate with more intact bioactive peptides. Hydrolyzed whey isolate is whey isolate that has been further broken down, yielding small peptides that are rapidly absorbed into the blood stream. Again, though, this extra processing comes at the cost of destruction of health promoting substances.

So, Which Type of Whey Should You Chose?

When choosing a whey protein product, it is important to consider your goals, budget, and any allergies. For example, since whey concentrates contain significant amounts of lactose, anyone with lactose intolerance should avoid them. Since isolates undergo more processing, they are more expensive and can lose many health-promoting compounds found in concentrates; on the flip side, they contain a higher amount of protein per serving. This is important for people who are calorie restricting and want to consume as much real food as possible, and while 5 grams of carbs (per serving of whey concentrate) may not seem like a lot, 2 shakes a day can mean a half of an apple. Whey isolates, and particularly hydrolysates, are more rapidly absorbed than concentrates and create a more profound insulin response. This makes whey isolates popular post-workout choices. Whether this increased rate of absorption translates into any real-world anabolic advantage is arguable, but anyone wishing to limit rises in insulin may want to avoid isolates because of their effects on insulin release.

My recommendation: If you want a general protein supplement that will help improve your health and not break the bank (and are not lactose intolerant), pick a whey protein concentrate that is at least 80% protein. True Nutrition makes a solid whey concentrate. If you want a pure, rapidly absorbed whey for post workout that’s easy on the stomach and you are not as concerned about other health benefits and price, try an isolate, or hydrolyzed whey isolate.

The Nutritional Difference

The bottom line here is that Whey Isolate Powder “typically” contains more protein and less fat and carbohydrate than Whey Concentrate.

But as you see below, the difference in nutritional profile (per serving) is not significant.

Below are the nutritional profiles comparing ProMix Unflavored Whey Concentrate to ProMix unflavored Whey Isolate so you can see the nutritional difference between an Isolate and a Concentrate  made by the same brand.

So that’s The Difference Between Whey Protein Isolate and Whey Protein Concentrate? from a processing and nutritional perspective.

Many people will tell you the main difference between these two types of proteins is the cost but as you can see in my All Natural Whey Comparison Chart, this is not always the case. Some brands of Whey Isolates are more cost effective than Whey Concentrates.

Of course you may be wondering which type of whey protein powder is best for you? And of course the answer to that question depends on what is important to you and what are you trying to achieve with Whey Protein?
